Making Clasic Chocolate Chip Cookies from scratch is a lot of fun. getting kids involved can bring a life tme of memories :

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Cream Butter and Sugars:

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.

3. Add Eggs and Vanilla:

  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

4. Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

5. Mix Dry Ingredients with Wet Ingredients:

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

6. Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts:

  • Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed in the dough.

7. Drop Dough onto Baking Sheets:

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

8. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.

9. Cool:

  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

10. Enjoy:

  • Once cooled, enjoy your classic chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk!
